We are happy to bring a band that has strived to creatively live and produce music outside of the box. Founding member Joshua Hodges describes the goal of the band's music as "dance music that you can actually listen to, that's good pop songs, but also you can dance to it.”. Another defining characteristic is their lyrics, which often discuss death, mortality, and the end of the world but doing so over upbeat and popular dance music. The band, notably bassist Shawn Glassford, has earned a reputation for wearing women's clothing during live performances, this is used in harmony with their "anti-fashion" approach to music. However, most of their music videos are not made with much of the band's actual involvement or appearance.
“What is so great about a band like STRFKR is that they are entirely self-aware. When Joshua Hodges created the band, he picked the name as a joke. The goal was not to get too caught up in the rat race of the music business, but lo and behold, STRFKR has made four albums and has even licensed a song for a Target television commercial. These guys are happy just to play their music for an audience, and it shows in their performance” - showbams.com
